The “Empress of Greek-American Comedy” Carie Karavas was able to light up the comedic fireworks at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island just in time for the 4th of July holiday weekend.
Mary Capone served as host and emcee of the night, and they were joined by such comics as Palma Florentino, Alley Walker, Mario Bosco, and Andre Kim, all of which were unique in their own ways as they delivered their comedic sets.
Carie Karavas’ headlining act
Karavas commenced her set by opening up about her encounter in Costco and how they wouldn’t let her in simply because she forgot her membership card. She went on to poke fun at people wearing masks and face shields, and how tired she is about all of that.
She made fun of her family and how they gained weight during the pandemic since all they would do was “sit around and eat.” During the quarantine, she noted that doctors visits were done “virtually” since they weren’t seeing patients in person.
Karavas shared that she doesn’t want to cough or sneeze in public these days because her friends, acquaintances, and family will automatically think it’s “COVID.”
She ridiculed her husband for a good chunk of the time, as well as his snoring and weight, as well as sleep apnea dilemma.
Karavas addressed the truth about social media and how people brag about their children these days when in reality she knows that the majority of all that is not true. She was also sick and tired of homeschooling her children during the lockdown, especially when it came to Common Core junior high school math.
The Verdict
Overall, Carie Karavas was superb at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown, and she was able to get the 4th of July comedic fireworks going one day early. The comedians that she shared the stage with (Mary Capone, Palma Florentino, Alley Walker, Mario Bosco, and Andre Kim) were impressive in their own right. Her set garnered two giant thumbs up.
