Actress Cara Jade Myers (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) chatted about starring in the new western film “Day of Reckoning,” which was directed by Shaun Silva.

She stars alongside Billy Zane, Scott Adkins, and Zach Roerig, among others.

On the verge of losing his wife and his job as sheriff, put-upon lawman John Dorsey reluctantly teams up with bullish U.S. Marshall Butch Hayden to hold outlaw Emily Rusk (Cara Jade Myers) hostage.

A battle of wills ensues as Emily turns the posse on themselves, but as her marauding husband and his gang approach, Emily and John realize they will need each other to survive.

Myers on ‘Day of Reckoning’

On starring in “Day of Reckoning,” she exclaimed, “It was amazing. I loved working with everyone in the cast and the crew. It was such a short, action filled shoot, that everyone really brought their A-game.”

“I made some great friends that I really hope I get to work with again. Plus, we all got to commiserate about how cold it was,” she added.

Myers on portraying Emily Rusk

On playing her character Emily, Myers remarked, “I loved that she was a badass. Even though she knows her husband will come for her, she’s not waiting for him. She will find a way out of the situation by any means possible. She’s smart, manipulative, and will kick your ass.”

Myers continued, “Emily is surrounded by a lot of alpha men, and she uses what she has to turn them against each other, doubt themselves, and then punch them in the face with a gun.”

“Emily is tired of this life and is ready to settle down, and give up her life as a criminal. But her past catches up with her and she has to use her past skills to survive this hostage situation,” she elaborated.

Myers on working with Billy Zane, Zach Roerig and Scott Adkins

Myers complimented her scene partners Billy Zane, Zach Roerig, and Scott Adkins.

“It was so great,” she admitted. “I love watching people’s process, and how they create their character. So ,it was really cool being in the room with them and watching them transform from Billy, Zach, and Scott to Hayden, John, and Kyle respectively.”

“Especially because they are all so incredibly kind. The entire cast was. You see these big men, covered in tattoos, carrying guns and riding Harley’s on-screen, then they become the kindest people,” she added.

Lessons learned from this western

On the lessons learned from this western, she shared, “This movie taught me that wearing a sundress in the middle of December is not for the weak-hearted.”

“On a more serious note, it taught me just how physical a role like this is. It was so much fun, but I definitely had scrapes and bruises. Oh, and to drink water,” she acknowledged.

Closing thoughts on ‘Day of Reckoning’

For fans and viewers, she stated, “Don’t judge a book by its cover. Hayden isn’t all good just because he has a badge, and Emily isn’t all bad because she is a criminal.”

“Situations can be complicated, as are people. Ultimately, I hope audiences can just sit back and enjoy the wild ride,” she concluded.
