Call of Duty are the most requested backwards compatible games

Microsoft set up a user poll last month to receive feedback after it announced some Xbox 360 games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One. For the longest time the top spot had dominated by Red Dead Redemption, the open world Western developed by Rockstar Games.

Recently the tide has turned to Black Ops II as over 79,000 gamers have shown their support, beating the 76,944 gamers who want Red Dead Redemption.

Meanwhile half of the top 10 sought after games are from the Call of Duty series with Modern Warfare 2 in fourth place with 64,034 votes and Black Ops in sixth place with 54,865 while Modern Warfare took the ninth spot followed by Modern Warfare 3.

This is not the first time gamers have shown their support to bring Modern Warfare 2 to the Next-Gen consoles. An online petition was circulating back in March trying to get Activsion to release an HD version of the iconic shooter.

Despite the popularity of the series among Xbox gamers, Call of Duty 2 and 3 were the only titles not on the list while World at War took the twelfth spot.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the ninth game in the series and was released on November 13, 2012 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It became the fastest selling media title when it hit the $1 billion mark in 15 days, beating the previews record of 16 days held by Modern Warfare 3.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops III is set to be released on November 6, 2015 for all major Next-Gen consoles and the PC.
