Singer-songwriter Caleb Hearn chatted about his sophomore studio album “LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND” and his future plans in music.

How did you approach the song selection process for your new album?

Honestly a lot of the songs we wrote with intention to be on the album. There were only a handful that didn’t make the cut.

We had a clear direction going into each song which I think improved our chances in getting something we loved.

What’s your personal favorite song on there?

This one’s hard but I have to say “Tip Of Your Tongue.” It’s fun and high energy. We love playing it live and I feel like it’s a new direction for me.

I love “GREEN EYES HEART ATTACK”… How did that come about?

“Green Eyed Heart Attack” might be my second favorite. It’s the most different from what I’ve done in the past and it’s cool that the song doesn’t have a traditional structure.

It’s almost as if the instrumental breakdown serves as the chorus. I wrote it about my wife, she has green eyes by the way. But it’s the story of how we met so it was a pretty easy one to write.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’m not sure yet. I know I want to keep growing and releasing new music but I don’t know what that looks like exactly.

This album took a lot to make happen and I want to soak it in as much as I can. Touring is definitely the next thing I’m looking forward to.

How does it feel to be an artist in the digital age?

I always say it’s easier and harder at the same time. There’s so much access and so much competition because of it but it’s also a time of opportunity.

Being an artist today is not for the faint of heart but it can be so rewarding if you want it bad enough.

What is your advice for young and emerging artists?

I’d say stay true to yourself. That’s the easiest to lose sight of as an artist I believe.

There are going to be so many opportunities and chances that may feel like the right decision but you can’t truly make the right decision for yourself if you lose sight of who you are.

Which artists would you like to do a dream duet with someday?

I’ve always said Ed Sheeran. He’s my favorite artist of all time and why I got into music.

To this day, I love “Little Bit Better” so much… how did it feel to record such an incredible duet with ROSIE?

It wasn’t as easy as it may sound but the chorus took us a long time to figure out but once we did it was like a lightbulb went off.

The song wrote itself after that and we knew it was special.

What does the word success mean to you?

I believe success is in how you measure it. To me, success is making music, making an impact and growing internally as a man in a tough world.

That includes being there for family, being there for friends and even fans.

What would you like to say to your fans about your new music?

Thank you so much for listening and I hope the music is helpful to you like it is to me.

I want nothing more than for you to find a song or a lyric that you can cling to and it being you comfort.
