Blues-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Buddy Red chatted about his new single “I Gotta Feelin” and future plans.

New single ‘I Gotta Feelin’

On the idea for the song, he said, “It came about suddenly! Like a thief in the night, gone as quickly as it came.”

For this new single, he produced it and played all the instruments.

Music and songwriting inspirations

Regarding his music and songwriting inspirations, he shared, “I am inspired by stories, my life, and relics of the past (vinyl records).”

Future plans

On his future plans, he revealed, “My plans include traveling with my guitar until I find myself a cozy cottage somewhere in Europe.”

He will also be doing shows at SXSW from Friday, March 13th to Tuesday, 17th.

The digital age

On being a recording artist in the digital age, he remarked, “It feels difficult and frustrating. Content, content, content. Thousands of streams, sixty something dollars I think.”

Advice for young and aspiring artists

For young and emerging artists, he said, “Don’t be a content creator. Find one to capture you.”

Defining moments

On his defining moments, he said, “The day I was born is the most important and impressive moment I can think of at this point in time.”

Success

Regarding his definition of success, he disclosed, “Success means whatever I want it to mean today, and tomorrow, until it means appreciating yesterday more often.”

Message for his fans

For his fans and supporters, he expressed, “I would like to say thank you for checking me out. I want you to have as many questions as I had when I discovered rock and roll.”
