Canadian actress Brigitte Kingsley chatted about her new film “The Art of Christmas.”

It will premiere tonight on Saturday, December 10, at 8 p.m. EST on Great American Family. “I am so excited, it has been so much fun. We have felt very supported by everyone. To be able to celebrate family and Christmas is just a joyful thing,” she said.

She served as an executive producer, writer, and she stars in it as Liv James opposite Joe Towne, who plays Jake Hartley. “Joe Towne was lovely, he is one of the sweetest humans you will ever meet,” she said. “Joe is really great and his sweetness really comes through in his performance.”

“This is the first time that I got to do all three: write, produce, and star in it so I am pretty excited about it,” she said. “I was very fortunate to work with his husband,
Andrew Cymek, as director. It is always fun working with him.”

The synopsis is as follows: After her latest gallery exhibition literally goes up in flames, struggling artist Liv James (Brigitte Kingsley) accepts a teaching job at a local elementary school to make ends meet.

Emmy winner Darin Brooks and Kelly Kruger also star in this movie. “Darin was lovely, he and Kelly were so great,” Kingsley said. “Their on-screen chemistry is just amazing.”

Through this reluctant career move, she discovers her true self, a new sense of purpose, and a surprising romance.

On being an actress and writer in the digital age, Kingsley said, “It’s so much fun, it is so great what we have access to these days. I think it has become easier and easier for people to explore all of these different things with technology being so readily available.”

Regarding the title of the current chapter of her life, Kingsley said, “Growth.” “I am learning so much right now, it has definitely been a growth period,” she said with a sweet laugh.

On her definition of success, she responded, “I think it’s happiness, and doing things you believe in with integrity and with people that you love. We had such a great team and a great crew with this project. Success is being able to wake up each morning and just be happy, and just enjoy the process.”
