Albert Einstein once said: “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.” An individual who strives to be a man of value is actor Brayan Nicoletti.
Nicoletti on being a part of ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’
On being a part of “The Bold and The Beautiful” as the new R.J. Forester, Nicoletti said, “It feels amazing. Every day on set is a new challenge, but I am loving every second of it.”
“I’ve had the privilege to work with some incredibly talented actors on this show. I’ve enjoyed working with everyone that I’ve have scenes with. It has always been fun no matter who I am playing across or opposite of.”
“I just love collaborations, and working with all of these gifted people to create something new each day,” he noted. “That is what I really strive for at the end of the day.”
“I have been enjoying every second working on this show, and I am very grateful and happy with where I am at right now,” he added.
Playing R.J. Forrester in ‘The Bold and The Beautiful’
Nicoletti is drawn to playing R.J. Forrester for several reasons. “I think what I love most about R.J. is where he is at in his life. I think he is coming back after a time away from the city, and from the family,” he said.
“I think there is a lot ahead of him with work, family, and relationships. I think this is just a new chapter in his life,” he admitted.
“I’ve just been really enjoying the exploration of what that looks like,” he added.
Working with Thorsten Kaye and Katherine Kelly Lang
Nicoletti had favorable words about working with Emmy winner Thorsten Kaye and Emmy nominee Katherine Kelly Lang as his on-screen parents Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan respectively.
“I couldn’t have asked for better subparents,” he said.” They are both incredibly talented and generous actors. They have been very helpful in bringing me on the show, so any chance that I get to work with them is always blast.”
“We have a lot of fun when we are shooting,” he added.
Nicoletti on how he prepared for the role of R.J.
On the research that he did for his character, Nicoletti remarked, “I didn’t watch any of the other actors that played R.J. before me. My research was more about understanding the past conflicts and relationships that he had on the show.”
“I did a deep dive into what his life was like growing up,” he noted. “I really tried focusing on the facts of the character, and understanding the show as much as I could, especially in regard to what has happened, what is currently happening, and where he fits into all of this.”
“So, I didn’t really watch a lot of old episodes or shows. I really just tried to focus on his upbringing and the origins of his character. I gave myself the creative freedom to figure out how he feels about everything,” Nicoletti explained.
Working with Casey Kasprzyk as executive producer
Nicoletti had great words about working with Casey Kasprzyk, who is serving in the capacity of an executive producer. “Casey is amazing,” he exclaimed.
“Casey is doing such a great job. It’s really a blessing to have someone like him in the studio a lot. I love everything he is doing so far,” Nicoletti added.
Dialogue-heavy
When asked how he handles being dialogue-heavy as an actor (which involves learning many pages of scripts each day), Nicoletti responded, “This is what I’ve been working on… all the training and acting I’ve done up until this point has led me to this, whether it’s theater, or films, or workshops.”
“Everything has prepared me to take on a challenge like this. I’ve spent the last few years working on my craft. At the end of the day, it’s my job. I’m doing my best to get it done,” he added.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology and social media are so prevalent, Nicoletti said, “I think it’s exciting! I feel that now, more than ever, people have access to the shows and the clips. I think it’s good for the industry and I think it’s good for the audience.”
“I tend to try and stay off social media, but I think the digital age is great to have for everybody. These days people have access to all these movies and TV shows from the comfort of their living rooms. I think it’s an exciting time for the industry,” he elaborated.
“From an accessibility standpoint, I am just glad that people can watch our show from all over the world,” he added.
Nicoletti on being a part of the most popular TV soap opera globally
“The Bold and The Beautiful” holds the distinction of being the most popular TV soap opera in the world, according to Guinness World Records. “This is a blessing, to be honest,” he said.
“I think every young actor wants a chance to be a part of something big. I’m very blessed and grateful to have this opportunity. I’m doing my best to make the most of it and I don’t take anything for granted,” he explained.
“We have a great cast and crew,” he admitted. “It is just a pleasure to work with everybody day in and day out,” he added.
Career-defining moments
On his career-defining moments, Nicoletti shared, “There have been so many! I didn’t really grow up doing theater or anything like that. When I came out to Los Angeles, I had a bunch of great mentors. From acting teachers to scene partners. I think everything has prepared me to get to where I am now.
“From the theater productions I’ve worked on to the acting classes I’ve taken. I’m really trying to expand my knowledge and education of cinema and the craft of acting in general,” he elaborated.
“I’ve done the most that I can over the years to really work on the craft. I think at the end of the day that’s what I bring to the table,” he noted.”
“I think every project I’ve worked on has helped me grow as an actor. So I’m very grateful for everything that I have been a part of,” he added.
Advice for young and emerging actors
For young and aspiring actors, Nicoletti encouraged them to “work on their craft.”
“I think from an actor’s standpoint, that’s all you have. Your body is your instrument. First of all, I would do my best to learn about the industry,” he said.
“I’ve had formal training as an actor, where I was introduced to different techniques such as Stanislavski, Chekhov, and Stella Adler,” he noted.
“Learn about yourself too,” he underscored. “I think the biggest thing in my journey is figuring out who I am. I’m still figuring that out, but I think that self-growth plays a big part in that.”
“When you put yourself in uncomfortable situations that is when the most growth happens, so don’t be afraid to be a beginner. Just learn from as many people as you possible can,” he acknowledged.
“I think that has really helped me grow, and build a foundation for my craft. Then, outside of that, just as an artist, I think exploring creativity is important, especially to try new things that you’ve never done before,” he elaborated.
“Also, talking to people that you would never normally talk to. I think just expanding your humanity is the best way. I think we all learn through experiences,” he added.
Stage of his life
On the title of the current chapter of his life, Nicoletti revealed, “Renaissance.”
“I think I’m at a point in my life where I really want to explore new things, travel to new places, and meet new people. I think that would describe the chapter I’m at right now,” he explained.
Superpower of choice
If Nicoletti were to have any superpower, it would be “flight.” “I don’t know if there is any other superpower that is as fun or as stimulating as being able to fly,” he admitted.
Success
Regarding his definition of the word success, Nicoletti shared, “Honestly, I think that success means doing what I love for a living. If you can enjoy what you are doing and the company you’re doing it with, then that’s success for me.”
