Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert file for divorce

They were both the reigning Country Music Association (CMA) winners for “Male” and “Female Vocalist of the Year” for the past five years. According to TMZ, their divorce was filed in Oklahoma. It was confirmed via a representative from Shelton and in Country Weekly Magazine.

The former couple also issued the following statement. “This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately,” they said.

Shelton and Lambert noted that they are real people, with a real family and they lead real lives, and they have friends and colleagues. As expected, they seek privacy and compassion during this difficult time, in their “very personal matter.”

Shelton and Lambert had met back in 2005 during a taping of Country Music Television (CMT)’s “100 Greatest Duets,” where they collaborated on the country classic duet, “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma,” which was originally by David Frizzell and Shelly West. They dated for several years and married in May of 2011 in Texas, and they subsequently settled in his native Oklahoma.
