Bieber has been performing the track “Where Are You Now?” for the last few months on Ariana Grande’s tour, but the tune finally has a video. Bieber was smart enough to align himself with current techno wizards Skrillex and Diplo, and it looks like his collaboration has paid off. The song has reached number 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and looks set to enter the top 10 soon.
The song begins with Bieber’s characteristic high falsetto and then goes into a touching ballad about someone who left him when he needed them the most, before jumping into a heavy techno back beat guaranteed to get everyone on the dance floor.
One might wonder who these lyrics are directed to. His fans who slowly left him over the years? Or perhaps his old flame Selena Gomez?
Either way, the song is contagious and will undoubtedly rival Omi’s “Cheerleader” as the song of the summer. At least that’s what this writer thinks… Kudos to Bieber for aligning himself with two of the hottest producers around right now.
The video itself is artistic and creative, incorporating graffiti-style paintwork, a modern art gallery backdrop, and Bieber himself showing he still knows how to dance.
On another note, apparently producer Diplo is in the business of reviving stalled music careers. He and Madonna have a new track entitled “Bitch, I’m Madonna,” which entered the Hot 100 at number 84 this week, according to Billboard.
