Actress Bianca Lawson chatted about starring in the film “The Widow’s Payback,” which will premiere on October 18th on Lifetime.
The synopsis is: Amanda Bibbs (Bianca Lawson) is a devoted wife whose life shatters after her husband’s murder.
When justice stalls, she takes matters into her own hands — going undercover to infiltrate a dangerous underworld and seduce Percy “Slide” Daye (Kheon Clarke), the ruthless mastermind behind the crime.
Risking everything, Amanda fights to expose the truth and win justice. This was inspired by real stories.
On filming “The Widow’s Payback,” Lawson said, “It was a pretty quick shoot. So, it was a little intense.”
Lawson was drawn to playing her character, Amanda, due to her “resilience.”
For young and emerging actors, Lawson said, “Do it for yourself, and also trust your intuition.”
The digital age
On being an actress and storyteller in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology, and social media are so prevalent, Lawson said, “It’s so different than when I started.”
“It’s a completely different culture now,” she noted. “In terms of social media, it hasn’t had any effect in terms of me getting more jobs, or making more money.”
“I literally just post for myself. It started as an experiment. I don’t think it is as important as people make it out to be. It depends on what you’re trying to do,” she acknowledged.
Success
Lawson equates the word success with “happiness” in life.
“Success means that you’ve been able to move in such a way that you feel really good about yourself, while still being able to accomplish your full potential and live really fully,” she explained.
