Actor Beau Mirchoff (MTV “Awkward” series fame) chatted about starring in the new western series “Ride” on Hallmark.

Playing Cash in ‘Ride’

He plays the role of Cash, a character who after serving time in the military, returns to his family’s ranch in Canyon, Colorado. “My experience in ‘Ride’ has been fantastic and overwhelmingly positive,” he admitted. “I genuinely love this series, the whole family can watch it, which is nice. It’s a fun and interesting family drama, and I hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.”

“I am drawn to Cash’s complexity,” he said. “I love Cash, he is the middle child who always had a lot to prove, with his brother leading the way in this life. His brother was loved by all and he was a high bar to live up to. This is all too much for Cash so he joins the military to kind of escape and serve his country, and for a lot of other reasons as well. He has a bit of PTSD and he misses his connection with his family.”

“I like Marcus Rosner a lot,” he admitted about his onscreen brother, Austin. “Marcus is a mensch. We had a lot of fun, he is such a calm presence and he is a total sweetheart.”

“Working with Jake Foy as my other brother is awesome too. He can sing, he can act, he’s very funny and witty. Jake is the whole package: he is caring, smart, and very talented. This is a job where we all enjoyed each other’s company, I am grateful to be working with them,” he added.

The digital age

On being an actor in the digital age, Mirchoff said, “So far, so good. We will see how it goes in the next couple of decades. Right now, it’s really neat. There are a lot more opportunities out there for actors, especially young actors. There is a lot of content on various outlets.”

“Now, with technology, it is easier to make short films and you can shoot them on your cell phones. Eventually, there will be some exciting things in the future… we will see,” he added.

Advice for young actors

For young and aspiring actors, Mirchoff said, “Work hard, do plays, you need to be technical, learn the craft and learn technique. Get up on your feet and try things. You really need to get the hours in.”

“Doing plays helps you move, be on your body, be physical, and use your voice. That way, you can have vitality,” he added.

‘Hidden Gems’ movie

This past summer, he enjoyed being a part of the Hallmark film “Hidden Gems,” where he worked with Hunter King. “That was a blast,” he admitted. “That was my first time in Hawaii, and it was my first time meeting Hunter King. It was all outside in Hawaii, and we filmed the majority of that movie at our hotel. Hunter is really fun and sweet.”

“I would love to do another movie with Hunter King in Hawaii,” he acknowledged.

On the title of the current chapter of his life, Mirchoff said, “Enjoyment.” “Right now, I am trying to enjoy my life,” he said.

Success

Regarding his definition of the word success, Mirchoff said, “It’s not achieving, success to me is contentment and living your life in truth, and on path with your values and what you want.”
