Beatles ‘Come Together’ in Upcoming Video Game With Rock Band Creator

Digital Journal — The Beatles are finally going to let it be for a video game. Harmonix and MTV Games — creators of the Rock Band franchise — have partnered with Apple Corps, owner of the Beatles music rights, to release a yet-untitled video game featuring music from the Fab Four.

The interactive game is being described as a “journey” through the Beatles portfolio, from their first album to their last. The game will also be compatible with Rock Band instruments but no other game details have been released.

The living Beatles have given their blessings to the project. Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Star have offered creative input, while Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison are green-lighting the game.

Ringo Starr said in a statement: “The Beatles continue to evolve with the passing of time and how wonderful that The Beatles’ legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerized world we live in. Let the games commence.”

Paul DeGooyer, MTV’s Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music, was enthusiastic about the blending the Beatles with a video game. “We are honored to be part of this new way for people to discover the timeless music and art of The Beatles – the most creatively and commercially successful, critically acclaimed, and influential band in the history of popular music.”

This Beatles game is poised to be released before the music alone is made available on services such as iTunes. No Beatles music isn’t offered on other digital outlets, such as Amazon’s MP3 store.
