Actress Ayesha Harris chatted about being a part of the new series “Daisy Jones & the Six” on Amazon Prime Video. Harris stars opposite Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, and Suki Waterhouse.

‘Daisy Jones & the Six’

“It was an incredible experience to be cast in such a great show,” she said. “Coming to set, seeing the effort being put in by everyone in the cast and crew to make this show as authentic as possible was such a treat. I feel so very grateful to be a part of this epic project.”

Harris was drawn to her character Bernie for several reasons. “I loved that Bernie wasn’t afraid to be herself. Yes, she’s aware of the world and its dangers, but she also realized that you can create your safe space in this wild world. That we, as queer black women, have the power to cultivate community and protect one another through love and trust. I also loved Bernie’s wardrobe,” she said.

‘Glamorous’ on Netflix

Harris opened up about being a part of “Glamorous” on Netflix. “It was a lot of fun,” she admitted. “It was like a gay summer camp! Everyone was very excited about this project which always makes things flow smoothly when there is a genuine love for a show.”

On working with Kim Cattrall, she said, “Kim was great! She commands a room like a professional and is very funny. Just when you think she wasn’t listening, she would hit you with a joke that had us all in hysterics! Kim was a pleasure, really cool working with such a Hollywood elite,” Harris said.

The digital age

On being an actress in the digital age, Harris said, “It’s great! So many ways to get your craft out there. Before it was network or bust, now not so much. I love that it gives us actors space to shine on all levels of media.”

When asked about her dream acting partners, she responded, “Samuel L. Jackson. I just love him, he’s so versatile. I love how he brings himself to every role. Nicole Beharie and Chaunte Adams are at the top of the list. And of course, the Hollywood highness herself, Viola Davis. Watching her gives me chills. Also, Arnold Schwarzenegger. I grew up on action movies, I have a not-so-secret desire to be an action movie hero or villain,” she said.

Success

Regarding her definition of success, she said, “Balance. Freedom. Limitless creativity with the ability to live comfortably through that creativity. Oneness with the creator and self. Love. And most of all integrity in this world, and then a little more love. You can never have too much.”

Harris concluded about “Daisy Jones & the Six,” “This show challenges you to be honest with your feelings and your desires. Keep your heart open to the infinite possibilities of how we can reach our goals. Life isn’t a straight line. Don’t be afraid to detour in life and love, there is magic when you allow yourself to color outside the lines.”
