‘Summer of ’76’ film

On the concept for “Summer of ’76,” he said, “It came about by me wanting to write, and direct, my second directorial film.”

“I love the 70’s soul and music coming of age films, which is why I decided to write a coming of age film about three teens in a suburban town who go on a road trip to track down a local legendary rock band that mysteriously broke up years back,” he elaborated.

Playing the lead role of Jet Wilson

He revealed that he is also playing the lead role of Jet Wilson. “Alongside directing, I play the lead role of Jet Wilson, who works at the record store in the small town with his uncle,” Arbab said.

“Jet is the one who gets his trio to go on the road trip to find the band,” he added.

Lessons learned from this screenplay

Hardest part of this filmmaking experience

“The hardest part of making your own film and also acting in it is being everywhere all at once, but that’s the fun part,” he said with a sweet laugh.

Future plans

Regarding his future plans, he shared, “We plan to hopefully adapt this film into a feature length, or a series level production. Before then, we will do a festival circuit at all of the major festivals.”
