On the song selection for his EP, he said, “It was interesting. About a year and a half ago, I was lucky to get in the studio with Chris Brown, and he pulled together an amazing list of producers and writers that he works with. We worked in the studio for about two months, and we had an amazing body of work that we came up with. We did about 12 songs together. For this EP, I decided to split it up into two parts and I am really proud of the work.”
When asked about his personal favorite songs on the EP, he shared that “Memory” and “Sign Your Love” are two that stand out, especially the latter for its throwback vibe. “It was hard to narrow them down,” he said.
Monroe added, “I am glad that I am getting the EP out now. I used the Chris Brown experience as a learning curve for me, and taking it into my own hands and my own style and doing my own thing. I hope to release a full-length album shortly after this EP. I am very close to being done. From that point on, it is hopefully up in the air. I would love to start touring this year and getting on the road, and getting people to hear this music. I am super proud of the direction that it is going, and the sound is always evolving. I have grown so much as an artist. I am hands-on with pretty much everything, so it’s a great feeling to be in the front of it. I am excited for this year, since hopefully, it will be one of my best.”
Throughout his career in the entertainment industry, he has starred in such Broadway productions as Beauty and the Beast, Oliver and The Sound of Music.
Monroe listed Adele and Taylor Swift as two of his dream female collaboration choices, and he subsequently praised Ellie Goulding and Robyn for their talent. “I think Adele is an amazing writer and she really taps into the emotion. She has an amazing vocal range and she came in with a bang. Adele swept the nation with her talent,” he said. “Taylor Swift seems like an interesting pick, since she’s a good writer as well.”
Aside from music, Monroe is also an actor, model and producer, a true triple threat in the industry.
