Actor Asher Grodman chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about the CBS series “Ghosts.”

On being a part of the CBS series “Ghosts,” he said, “It’s a dream come true. The show is so special: it’s joyful, creative, and funny. It has been a wild ride navigating the pilot and production process amidst a pandemic.”

“In March 2020, we were in LA to shoot the pilot when suddenly the world stopped and we were sent home. We faced so much uncertainty, but now here we are, over a year and a half later, premiering on Thursday night. I feel very lucky,” he said.

“The best part of the job is the writing and the people,” he said. “When I first read the pilot, I was laughing out loud and knew the script was different and very special. Our creators, Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, and all of our writers are doing incredible work and keep us eagerly awaiting each table read. The cast, crew, and creative team is extraordinary and make every day a joy – would happily be trapped in a mansion with this team.”

On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “There are so many more avenues for creation. It’s an exciting time to be working as an actor”

For young and aspiring actors, he said, “Find a way to support yourself that isn’t tied to acting because acting is a long game. I’ve only recently been able to support myself on acting alone. In terms of the work itself, try to look at projects in terms of the story rather than character. Try to see the big picture, it’ll help you embrace collaboration and spontaneity.”

On his daily motivations as an actor, he said, “The desire to play and the thrill of telling stories specifically and spontaneously.”

He defined the word success as “working on projects that excite me with people I enjoy working with.”

Grodman concluded about “Ghosts,” “I think people will get a kick out of it. It’s so unique, it’s quirky, it’s contemporary, and it’s a nice jaunt through American history. And, I cannot say it enough….the writing is really, really, really, funny.”
