On Monday, April 28th, the “Murderbot” red carpet premiere took place at Regal Union Square in New York City.

Apple TV+ hosted the world premiere of its highly anticipated sci-fi comedic thriller “Murderbot.”

The TV series “Murderbot” was created by Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz.

The 10-episode series stars Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård, who also serves as executive producer. It also stars Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski.

The show will premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, May 16, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 11, 2025.

Attendees at the “Murderbot” red carpet premiere included Skarsgård, creators and showrunners Chris and Paul Weitz, and Noma Dumezweni and David Dastmalchian, as well as other actors from the cast.

The series is based on the award-winning, bestselling book series by Martha Wells, and it follows a rogue security unit as it searches for the meaning of life.

“Murderbot” is a sci-fi thriller and comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients.

Played by Alexander Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

Following the New York City premiere of “Murderbot,” guests enjoyed a post-screening reception at The Bowery.
