Anne Carrere talks about ‘Piaf! The Show’ at Carnegie Hall in NY (Includes interview)

The actress raved about how excited she is to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York on January 6, exactly where the legendary Edith Piaf performed many decades ago. “I’m getting more and more excited as the date gets closer. This show is the most important moment for the tour. Performing at Carnegie Hall is a privilege because it’s such a great hall, known throughout the world. It has hosted the greatest artists of all classical music and soon the audience will hear the most beautiful and greatest songs of Edith Piaf, the French singer who has marked its stories,” Carrere said.

Carrere is drawn to Edith Piaf’s music since “each song has its own story,” as well as its “own identity.” “Each melody has been designed for her. There is no one like her. Her music is timeless,” she said.

She shared that her personal favorite Edith Piaf perform to sing live is “Jezebel” for the vocals, and she praised “Hymne à l’amour” for its lyrics. “I like to sing all her songs because they are all so different,” she said.

When asked if she ever saw La Vie En Rose starring Marion Cotillard as Piaf, Carrere said, “Yes, I saw it several times. Marion Cotillard is incredible in this role but I was more inspired by the story of Edith Piaf’s life, and from videos I saw of her pulled from the INA archives.”

Each day, she is motivated by her desire to dream bigger and bigger. “It’s my real motivation,” she exclaimed. “How many people would like to live their dreams but never get to? I get to every day.”

On this production, she worked with the ever-talented director Gil Marsalla. “It was very easy to work on this project with producer Gil Marsalla because he already had a very precise idea of the show. I only had to let myself convey his vision,” she said.

For aspiring singers and actors, Carrere recommended they always work hard and to continue learning. “Nothing is acquired. Always believe in your dreams. I also advise them to be surrounded by people who want the best for them,” she said.

Carrere defined the word success as leaving the stage after a show and “having touched the hearts of the people.” ” That would be my greatest success,” she exclaimed.

For her New York fans, she concluded, “One day, Germaine Ricord, a friend of Edith Piaf’s told me ‘give your heart, give your soul, and believe in every word you say, speak or sing, and you will touch the hearts of the people.’ I hope that I will be the embodiment of these words when I take the stage at Carnegie Hall.”
