Acclaimed actor Andy Serkis has a major reason to be proud. He won a 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for his acting work in “The Letter for the King” on Netflix.
Serkis won for “Outstanding Guest Performer in a Daytime Fiction Program” for his portrayal of the Mayor of Mistrinaut.
He triumphed over his fellow nominees Wanda Sykes (“Noah’s Arc: The ‘Rona Chronicles”), Ronn Moss (“Studio City”), Anna Maria Horsford (“Studio City”), A Martinez (“The Bay”), and Randy Wayne (“The Bay”).
“Woke up to this amazing news earlier today!” Serkis exclaimed in a post on social media. “Very humbled by this acknowledgment from the Television Academy. Thanks to @netflix for their support – To creators Paul Trijbits and William Davies for the thrilling ride, and the brilliant and talented cast, with whom I’d love to share this award, including Amir Wilson, and none other than my on and off-screen daughter Ruby Ashbourne Serkis.”
Serkis’ daughter, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, also starred as Livinia in “The Letter for the King.” His co-star Amir Wilson was nominated for “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Fiction Program” for his portrayal of Tiuri, and Gijs Blom was nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Fiction Program” for playing Prince Viridian.
Yesterday, the hit fantasy series “The Letter for the King” also won for “Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Fiction Program.”
