World-renowned electronic star Andrew Rayel chatted about his new album “Lifeline.”

Song selection process for “Lifeline’

On the song selection approach for this CD, he said, “The process was a long one, but one that I enjoyed immensely. There were quite a few records to choose from in the end, but only the ones I fully 100 percent believed in made the cut. I really
leaned into those that represented my creative journey.”

“I wasn’t necessarily going for a certain theme, it was more of a continuation of my journey as an artist and a human. Artists go through so much between touring and personal life, the world is becoming such a pressuring place that we all need to appreciate what we have and always be sure to remember my favorite piece of advice: ‘this too shall pass’,” he elaborated.

Favorite song on the LP

When asked about his favorite song on the LP, Rayel said, “All of them mean something special to me, so this is a really hard question! ‘Feels Like Home’ was written for my wife, and I made a special version for the first dance at our wedding so I’d say that’s up there.”

Music and songwriting inspirations

On his music and songwriting inspirations, Rayel said, “Everything that is exciting or motivating, from personal experiences, shows, fans, friends, family, day-to-day life. During the pandemic, I got inspired by movies, art, reading and listening to other people’s music, and that’s why the first half of the album is quite slow, and very
deep and progressive in a way.”

Future plans

He shared that his future plans include “even more music” and “bigger shows.”

Rayel listed Hans Zimmer as his dream collaboration choice in music.

On the future of electronic music in the next five years, Rayel remarked, “This is a tough one, especially as the way music is being consumed is ever changing
and it’s hard to keep up. Hypes come and go, but trance will always be close to my
heart.”

Success

On his definition of success, he said, “Success means different things at different stages of life, depending on what you want to achieve. I think we all evolve with time and experience, and the mind and heart will want different things as that person grows and matures.”

“Life is precious, appreciate it. Be kind to others, and be thankful for the things you have,” he concluded about the album.
