Actor Andre Anthony chatted about starring as Frankie in the Paramount Pictures film “Scream VI” and “The Night Agent” on Netflix.
‘Scream VI’
Anthony spoke about tackling his character Frankie in “Scream VI.” “Frankie is a bit of a wild card. He’s definitely there to stir the pot a little, which is always a fun thing to play. I love how he has all these mini interactions with the core four, and you never quite know what he’s going to do next,” he said.
“‘Scream VI’ is set in New York City this time around which makes it a lot scarier and more unpredictable in my opinion. Ghostface is on the loose, and you never know where they might pop up next,” he foreshadowed.
‘The Night Agent’
On being a part of “The Night Agent,” he said, “It was a really exciting project for me for many reasons. The book, written by Matthew Quirk, is full of twists and turns, and really keeps you engaged until the very end. I think Shawn Ryan (showrunner) did an excellent job of adapting the story for the screen by keeping those key elements that make the book exciting, while also bringing tons of action to the forefront.”
“The stunt team was phenomenal on this show, and I was able to train with them to bring some of those fight scenes to life,” he added.
“As for ‘The Night Agent,’ it’s action packed, and full of suspense. Every episode introduces new theories which keeps things exciting all the way up until the finale. Both projects are a wild ride, and I hope people get a chance to see Scream in theatres with an audience, and then binge ‘The Night Agent’ on Netflix on March 23,” he said.
Motivations as an actor
Regarding his daily motivations as an actor, Anthony said, “Exploring different characters and stories. I think acting is a great lesson in empathy, which can also have an impact on you as a human being. My hope is to continue to learn as I progress through my career, because I think there are always lessons to be learned from each project, regardless of what stage you’re at in your career.”
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, now with streaming and technology being so prevalent, Anthony said, “It feels like things are changing every day! I think it can be daunting to think about how rapidly technology is advancing and what effect that might have on our industry, but I also think it’s an opportunity for so many more stories to be told.”
“As an actor, I’m learning in real time how to adapt to these changes, but I think it’s important to try and focus on the things I can control,” he added.
Dream acting partners
On his dream acting partners, he said, “With the influx of streaming services, I’m always discovering new actors that I love. There’s so so many, but some of my favourites would be Benicio Del Toro, Mahershala Ali, Leonardo Dicaprio, Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep.”
Future plans
Anthony shared some of his future plans. “I would love to just continue to work on exciting projects with exciting filmmakers. I have a movie coming out later this year which is more of a horror/comedy, but to be honest, I’ve never been very good at predicting the future. So, we will see what it brings, and I’ll always be there to embrace it,” he said.
