Actress Ana Rey chatted about her new comedy “Lopez vs. Lopez” and being a creative artist in the digital age.

What was it like to be a part of the new comedy “Lopez vs. Lopez”?

One of the most fun sets I’ve ever been on. You could feel the positive energy walking into the studio, everyone was happy to be at work! The best part was the sense of play.

From the costume fittings to the taping of the show. If, during the course of rehearsals or even when taping a scene, something was funny and really worked, George and Mayan Lopez were the first to say, “We’re keeping that!”

What inspires you each day as an actress?

When I was growing up, my favorite TV comedies were the tonic to my day. Being able to gather with my family and have a laugh just made everything better. My hope is that I can bring that feeling to others.

How does it feel to be an actress in the digital age? (now with streaming and technology being so prevalent)

I think having more access to movies and TV shows is great. I’m delighted that after Lopez vs. Lopez airs on NBC on Fridays, you can stream it on Peacock the next day.

When I was growing up, you had to wait until the show was re-aired during the summer! (Yes, go ahead and say, “Hi Old!”) Having fans have the opportunity to see their favorite shows at their convenience is a win for everyone, in my opinion.

What do your plans for the future include?

I’d love to film a Sci-Fi show. Star Trek or Star Wars. I grew up being such a big fan of both those franchises, I’d be thrilled to be a part of that legacy.

Which actors would you like to someday work with as your dream acting partners?

So many legends, and so little time! Haha! Of course, Rita Moreno would be an absolute dream come true. Also, as I mentioned before, I’ve been a Star Trek fan forever, so Sir Patrick Stewart would be beyond thrilling.

What does the word success mean to you? (My favorite question)

Being able to afford a house in Los Angeles.

What would you like to tell our readers about “Lopez vs. Lopez”? (what’s the one thing you want them to get out of it)

Well, when I was filming my episode, what really struck me about the scripts was the genuine love between father, daughter, and family. I really hope that everyone can watch the show and feel that love between the laughs.
