American Idol winner Trent Harmon talks new single, Dolly Parton (Includes interview)

On his new single, “There’s a Girl,” Harmon said, “It is going to radio right now. We are currently on a radio tour, and so far it has been well-received by all of the stations.”

Harmon released his new music video for the song, which was directed by Roman White and produced by Tameron Hedge.

He was the winner of the farewell season of American Idol, which was quite wonderful for Harmon. “It was a really special opportunity to be on the last season, and a lot of different things have come because of that,” he said.

A Mississippi native, Harmon listed country queen Dolly Parton as his dream female duet choice, and he complimented country songstress Patty Loveless. “A duet with Dolly would be really neat,” he said.

For aspiring musicians, who feel the need to give up, he urged them to persevere. “Whenever you get to that point, don’t quit, go on for one more year. Do music for 12 more months, and see if something happens, since that is what I did. I wanted to quit, but I gave it one more year,” he said.

In his spare time, he enjoys riding his bicycle and running. “I don’t get to do either of them as often as I used to, but I still try,” he said.

The American Idol winner concluded by sharing his sincere gratitude for his fans. “I would like to thank anybody that watched the show and/or voted, and those who have kept up with me on my social networks,” he said.
