American Idol winner Nick Fradiani talks ‘Beautiful Life’ (Includes interview)

On winning this season of American Idol, Fradiani said, “It was pretty crazy. It has been almost two weeks, and it feels like it has all been a blur. It might take me a while to comprehend.”

Last week, Fradiani made a media appearance at New York’s iconic Empire State Building, to promote his musical endeavors. “That was really cool. I have never been up there. That was my first time that I have done that, and something that I will definitely never forget,” he said. “It was amazing. My band was there with me, so we all got a lot of video footage of it.”

Fradiani shared that he is “pumped” about his coronation song “Beautiful Life,” which is his newest radio single on Big Machine Records. “The song clicked with me right away, and I just really lucked out with it. I enjoy playing it and I love how the recording came out. It is doing pretty well right now and it is starting to get airplay on radio. It is a really well-written song. There are a lot of cool things happening with the song and I am really excited for it,” he said.

He is extremely honored to be a part of the Big Machine Label Group family, especially since he shares the roster with such esteemed artists as Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Reba, Martina McBride, among other big talents.

The American Idols Live! tour starts on July 7 and it will make stops in 37 cities. “It is going to be a little bit different than in previous years, and it will be in more intimate settings. You will get to know the artists a little bit more than you did in prior years. Everybody is really different and it is going to be a fun tour. I am excited to be back with my friends. It’s going to be a good time,” he said.

Speaking of their summer tour, the Top 5 finalists from season 14 of American Idol will be performing at New York’s Beacon Theatre on August 5. “That is probably the closest to my hometown. I am very excited about the Beacon,” he said. “I have never been there, but I have seen photos and it looks awesome.”

From this season of the reality singing competition, he listed the coronation tune and his cover of Matchbox 20’s “Bright Lights” as his two personal favorite songs. Fradiani also enjoyed playing Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be,” especially since it was a “monster hit” when he was growing up. “I loved playing that song. I had a lot of fun with it,” he said, referring to McCain’s love ballad.

Fradiani had nothing but the kindest words for the runner-up winner Clark Beckham, who happens to be a good friend of his. “Everybody was really close. We were all very different, but we went through the same experiences over the past five months. We just cheered everybody on, and they did the best they could. I thought it was a really strong season. It had a lot of different artists that brought a lot of different things to the table. I thought it was exciting to watch. It had a great variety of genres and musical styles,” he said.

He listed his label-mate, global music star Taylor Swift as his dream female duet choice. “To be able to work on a song with Taylor Swift would be really amazing,” he said.

In his spare time, Fradiani noted that he enjoys running by the beach, listening to music and “chilling out.”

He concluded by thanking his fans for their support. “Without the fans, I would not be here right now. They single-handedly helped me live my dream, and I am excited to have them on this journey for me, and hopefully I will have them many years to me,” he said.
