American Idol’s Rayvon Owen discusses Idols Live! tour and future (Includes interview)

Regarding the Idols Live! tour, he said, “We are in rehearsals right now, and we are getting everything in place. It is going really well. It is a lot of work and it is a lot to learn, since we are signing our lead songs, group songs and we are singing back-up for one another, but so far, so good. We are having such a good time.”

Owen noted that the tour this year is going to be different from previous years. “It is in a more intimate setting, and you get to really know us and we get to tell our stories. It has a different vibe,” he said. “There will be a lot of different dynamics since each of us are different. We all get to have our moments. All together, it is going to be a phenomenal show.”

He covered the song “Jealous” by Labrinth and his music video was directed by Blythe Thomas. “Labrinth is very well-known in the United Kingdom, and he is such an amazing artist. That was one of the covers that I wanted to perform on the show, but I never got a chance. It is such a heart-wrenching song and something that I went through, emotionally. I just wanted to use my voice to show the beauty of the lyrics, and I wanted simple videography that captured what the song was saying,” he said.

On Wednesday, August 5, the Top 5 finalists this year will be performing at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. “It is going to be a great turnout, and I am really excited about that. A lot of legendary artists have performed there,” he said.

Owen listed Celine Dion, Betty Who and British songstress Jessie Ware as his dream female duet choices.
