Ali Agirnas talks about co-starring role in ‘Godless’ on Netflix (Includes interview)

In Godless, Agirnas portrays the character Nicholas Gustavson. “Godless was amazing. Getting a chance to work with Jeff Daniels,” he said. “It is an intense series.”

The series itself is nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy awards. “I had a feeling that it would be recognized, but not on this scale,” he said. “Watching it, the writing is great, and so is the vision. The cinematography was amazing. It was definitely a great experience, and I had a great ensemble of co-actors. Trine Christensen is wonderful, and a sweetheart. It was great to have that ensemble and support from such great actors.”

Agirnas listed Charlize Theron, Eva Mendes and Jessica Chastain as his dream female acting partners, to someday work with on an acting project. “Those two are really great, but I am open to working with any great actress,” he said.

Digital transformation of the entertainment business

On the impact of technology on the entertainment industry, Agirnas said, “I am observing it and I’m taking it in. We need to be open to change, especially as an actor. You need to stay flexible. The format is changing, and lately, the list of actors on certain projects is small, but the list of special effects and graphic artists goes on for pages. The networks are changing and so is the format of film-making, where it will be of a technical ensemble as opposed to an actor ensemble.”

Agirnas continued, “What I like about Netflix is that the projects on there are good quality. I have been on three Netflix shows and I have had good experiences working on those sets. More importantly, Netflix is also bringing in foreign shows, which I like. Being from a diverse background myself, that is great.”

On his use of technology in his daily routine as an actor, Agirnas said, “I use technology for research first of all, and also for submissions.”

In addition to Godless, Agirnas is known for his acting work on Longmire, as well as the NBC series The Brave, where he played the Turkish Detective.
