The Oscar-nominated film Foxcatcher is based on his father, Olympic gold medalist Dave Schultz’ murder by millionaire John du Pont. Mark Ruffalo portrays his father in the film, while veteran comedian Steve Carell plays du Pont. “That is amazing. Everything who was involved in the film did a great job. Channing Tatum did an excellent job playing my uncle,” he said. “I know Ruffalo filmed a lot more scenes. It would have been cool if he had more screen time. He was really good and did an incredible job.”
Alexander happened to be on set on the same day that Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave filmed her part in the film. “One of the few times I was on set, I was able to hang out and Vanessa Redgrave was there. They were filming the du Pont scene at the Republican Convention. She is amazing,” Alexander said.
He noted that Foxcatcher director Bennett Miller did an exceptional job understanding the real-life characters, and a large part of that is due to his background as a documentary filmmaker. “I think that is what makes him such a good film-maker,” he said.
“When someone decides to tell a story about your life, it is kind of out of your hand. My dad was a public figure. You hope that people will maintain the accuracy and the key points on their personalities. I feel like I couldn’t ask for a better collective group than Bennett Miller and his team. That was the best possible outcome that you could have in that situation,” he said.
Alexander is the CEO of Complete App, which launched on January of 2015. “There are a billion people that are connected on social networks and those networks are primarily used for self-promotion and to talk about what they have already done. Our social network is harnessing the power of collective intelligence and experience, by having a conversation about what we’re going to do and we can use that power more effectively. The goal is to make it easier for everyone to accomplish their tasks and goals, by creating a platform that will allow people to help each other more efficiently,” he concluded.
