On being a part of “Electric Zoo,” for the festival’s 10-year anniversary, Alesso said, “It feels great. I have been here before, and it’s fantastic.”
Regarding his new single “Remedy,” Alesso said, “I finished the song pretty much a month ago, and then I asked Conor Maynard to do the vocals for it. I had the vision of creating a song that sounded like the end of the summer, like a melancholic song.”
Alesso complimented director Rudy Mancuso for doing a “cool” job on the intergalactic music video for “Remedy.” “All props to him,” he said.
Each day, Alesso is motivated by “making music, family, friends, memories and having a great life.” “That’s what motivates me,” he said. “When I am playing, the only thing that exists is that. It feels like you are definitely in the moment all the time, and nothing else is going on. You are turning off your brain and you are just focusing on one thing.”
On the future of electronic dance music in the next five years, Alesso said, “That’s a hard question. What’s important is to just deliver quality dance records. That’s the main thing. Electronic dance music is always going to be around forever. It is going to come in waves, sometimes they are big and sometimes not so big. It is important to make great dance records.”
Digital transformation of electronic dance music
Regarding the impact of technology on the contemporary electronic dance music scene, Alesso said, “It’s fantastic. Technology allows us to spread our music in such an easy way. It is great for new and up-and-coming producers.”
On his use of technology in his daily routine, Alesso said, “I work in Logic Pro X, so I produce in that every day. I also use Instagram and Twitter.”
He shared that he would love to work with Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine as his dream collaboration choice in music. For his loyal fans, he said, “Thank you so much for still listening to my music. I hope I am making you guys happy. Thank you and I love you.”
Alesso concluded our interview by furnishing his definition of success. “Success means being happy in your life, and happy in what you are doing.”
“Remedy,” featuring Conor Maynard, is available on iTunes and on Spotify.
