Actress Nathanya Alexander chatted with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about “Generation” on HBO Max, where she played Arianna.
On being a part of HBO Max’s “Generation,” she said, “It was a blast. I feel so grateful to have worked with such a talented group of creatives. It’s an experience that I will forever hold dear to my heart.”
She noted that Arianna was a great deal of fun to play. “I got to explore so many different sides to her, she’s so layered. I love her wardrobe, her boldness, and her unapologetic attitude,” she said.
“I definitely had to pay attention to detail when it came to playing Arianna. I created a journal, and playlists to get into character because she has such a strong point of view,” she added.
Regarding her daily motivations as an actress, she said, “The magic that happens when you are totally lost in a character and you’re not thinking you’re just simply living, and reacting moment by moment. It’s a beautiful feeling.”
“I’ve always been in love with the arts. My love and passion for my craft keeps me motivated,” she added.
On being an actress in the digital age, she said, “It’s pretty cool. Content is at an all-time high which brings more opportunities. I am enjoying all the new content that’s being made. I appreciate all the new voices and new faces that are being discovered.”
For young and aspiring actors, she said, “Training is key. Consistency is your best friend. And don’t let ‘no’ stop you.”
Alexander listed Oscar winner Viola Davis as her dream acting partner. “Viola Davis. I admire her so much. I love watching her performances, it gives me goosebumps each time. She’s a powerhouse and watching her is like attending a masterclass,” she said.
She defined the word success as follows: “Success to me is starting something and finishing it, or having a goal and reaching it. It could be small or big, celebrate them all.”
For fans and viewers, she concluded, “‘Generation’ has a unique voice, you fall in love with the characters, and you get drawn into the story immediately. The characters are unapologetic and walk to the beat of their own drum. I only hope that our show can inspire people to do the same.”
