ABIR talks Electric Zoo, Cash Cash track, technology, Frank Ocean (Includes interview)

“This is my first time here, so I am future excited,” she said, about the top electronic festival Electric Zoo. “All of the outfits here are awesome.”

ABIR revealed that she came to Electric Zoo to perform her smash hit “Finest Hour” with electronic trio Cash Cash during their set. “I am excited. This will be our second time performing it. We played it once before at a festival,” she said.

On her songwriting, ABIR said, “Usually, I write songs that I can relate to myself, about things that I have been through. I lean through experiences of my daily life.”

She is drawn to electronic dance music due to its energy and liberating vibe. Growing up, she listed to Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, and Whitey Houston. “The list of influences is crazy,” she said.

On her plans for the future, she said “I have a new single coming out in September, and an EP coming out in October. Then, I will be going out on tour with Kiiara.”

ABIR listed Frank Ocean and Travis Scott as her dream collaboration choices in music. Being a fan of the Moroccan cuisine and Japanese cuisine, ABIR shared that she would love to have been a chef as her alternate career choice. “I have some recipes,” she said. “I cook all the time.”

Digital transformation of music business

Regarding the impact of technology on the music business, ABIR said, “Honestly, technology is great since it makes everything more accessible. I do miss CDs though, I am not going to lie.”

On her use of technology in her daily routine, she said, “I would have ideas randomly walking down the street and I would use Voice Memos to record everything.”
