A.J. Shively and Andrew Durand chatted about the New York City Center Encores! production of “Titanic.”
“It is great, overwhelming, and exciting to be at the Drama Desk Awards,” Shively exclaimed. “It feels very good! We are very happy to be here and to celebrate with our friends,” Durand said, while doing press on the red carpet of the Drama Desk Awards.
They shared that they are very excited about the Encores! “Titanic” production at New York City Center. “We can’t wait to see what happens,” Durand teased.
Shively and Durand shared that they love working with Tony winner Bonnie Milligan (“Kimberly Akimbo”), who is now starring in “Titanic.” “Bonnie is so much fun and she is Belting Bons,” Durand exclaimed. “Boy… does she ever!” Shively said.
“I want people to experience this musical score with an orchestra that is actually bigger than the original Broadway orchestra,” Shively said. “This music is incredible,” he noted.
“Also, by viewing this show, I hope it inspires people to appreciate life while they have it,” Shively added.
“This is a show about class, which is very relevant to our society always, so that’s an important story to tell,” Durand acknowledged.
Recently, A.J. Shively was bestowed the 15th Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theatre at the 2024 Theatre World Awards. “I am still gobsmacked to have received the Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theatre at the Theatre World Awards,” Shively said.
