The option to ‘place an order’ will be seen next to some of the results. According to Consumerist, Google has teamed up with a number of online food delivery services in order to add the option to its results.
In a post, Google said that initially, people will be able to order food via six providers in the US. Eat24, GrubHub, Seamless, MyPizza.com and BeyondMenu are the six providers that people will be able to place an order with via the search results. Google does plan on adding more options in the future.
Google didn’t say whether individual restaurants that have their own delivery service would be able to use the feature in the future, and as of now the feature is only a mobile feature.
Also, right now business owners will not be able to add custom links. It a business owner has a relationship with one of Google’s partners, then the action links to that partner should appear for the business.
Bing has a similar feature. Bing users can click on the ‘order online’ button that can be found within Bing’s local search results.
