On searching…
Before you post a story read through the website and check to see if your story has already been posted. The search feature is an excellent way to check on a story and also find others that interest you. If you do repost the same story and someone lets you know, take it down. We’re all chasing that dollar so be fair to the one who got there first.
On finding a unique story…
The best way to find good stories is to have multiple news sources. While Fark and Digg are great sites, they’re not the only places out there. Learn to look in offbeat sites for the best news. A story from an obscure source is also less likely to have been posted before.
On posting diverse stories…
Variety is the spice of life. I’m often surprised by which stories get hot and which don’t. Try to find stories that will catch peoples’ attention and get them talking. The more your story attracts attention the more money you make.
On voting and commenting…
Make sure to comment and vote on other users’ stories. The more well-rounded your actions are the better your profit will be. If you post stories without commenting, people will be less likely to comment in yours.
On uploading images…
The picture at the beginning of your story can do more to attract readers than a funny headline.
On summarizing your posts effectively…
When you post a story, the Intro and Body are two different fields for a reason. Repeating the same thing in both fields is lazy and annoying. Take a minute to let others know more about what’s going on in your story. No one is going to give you a good comment or vote if they can’t tell what the story is about.
On DigitalJournal.com User News etiquette…
Last but not least, be civil with each other. Arguing over a subject you have strong feelings on is fine, but if you start name calling or being rude then your point is lost. Remember that words that hurt others are going to follow you; DigitalJournal.com users have formed a tight community and we stick up for each other. If you are bashing other users for no reason, your stories will be voted down and your reputation will suffer. People don’t comment on stories by people they dislike.
