Jason Vedadi is the seasoned and dedicated CEO of Story Cannabis with a pioneering impact in the world of cannabis. Vedadi’s expansion started with humble beginnings, growing into instrumental roles in businesses like Harvest and Oasis, and ultimately leading to the creation of Story Cannabis. With extensive experience and acumen, Vedadi’s journey speaks to his resilience and adaptability in the ever-evolving cannabis industry.

Vedadi’s venture into the cannabis industry began in 2008 in his home state of Washington. While working in the real estate field, he decided to try cannabis cultivation while the industry was just taking shape. Washington’s allowance of small-scale grows and limited patients made it an ideal entry point for Vedadi. Going beyond cultivation, he leveraged his unique expertise and background to excel in the cannabis industry and build giants like Harvest and Oasis.

With a career comprised of acquisitions, strategy, and vision, Vedadi’s dynamic moves were especially reflected in the merger of Harvest and Modern Flower, which he co-founded. Harvest going public served as a milestone in his career and spurred further endeavors into the cannabis world. He went on to create the successful Oasis Cannabis in Arizona, ultimately selling Oasis Cannabis to Ayr Strategies.

Continuing his cannabis journey, Vedadi founded the Arizona-based company, Story Cannabis. The private entity’s trajectory included expanding to opportunities in New Jersey and Ohio before also recently buying Oasis back from Ayr. Consolidating market opportunities, Story Cannabis currently has nearly a dozen Arizona stores and cultivates only in Maryland and Arizona.

The inception of Story Cannabis was driven by a mix of ambition and necessity. After selling Oasis to Ayr Strategies in 2020, Vedadi anticipated significant federal cannabis reforms, given the Democratic control of the House, Senate, and Oval Office. When the expected reform didn’t take shape, Vedadi had the insight to create Story Cannabis as an innovative vehicle for growth in the industry.

A steady history with recurring investors and internal investments helped Story Cannabis successfully navigate capital scarcity. To steadily thrive within a fluctuating and ever-changing industry, Story Cannabis strategically focuses on markets meeting their underwriting criteria.

In an industry as competitive as cannabis, customer focus is paramount. Story Cannabis stands out for its commitment to understanding customer preferences as well as local market dynamics. While Vedadi acknowledges there’s no magic formula for cannabis success, Story Cannabis flourished largely due to diligent execution from a dedicated team. Story Cannabis’ cohesive c-suite team maintained distinct, personalized service and a customer-centric approach with about 15 years of experience together.

Story Cannabis has more ambitious growth in store. Along with business agreements in New Jersey, Story Cannabis has strategic expansion plans to win licenses in additional emerging markets exhibiting growth potential and clear-cut medical programs. The company is also preparing for a company-wide rebrand, unifying all dispensaries under the “Story” name by the end of Q1.

Jason Vedadi’s cannabis journey is a testament to his tenacity and vision. As the cannabis landscape continues to evolve, Story Cannabis stands as a shining example of adaptability and innovation.
