At Sekur Private Data Ltd., there’s nothing more important than privacy; Sekur likes to say that privacy is in their DNA. Since 2012, from its Swiss sister company and its US subsidiary, the company has pioneered using Swiss privacy to keep its customers’ email and messaging data safe. Customers can now use the new SekurVPN for safe and private internet browsing as well.
Swiss privacy is incredibly effective as the country’s data protection laws prevent practices that are common in other countries. Storing all customer data, email, messages and files in Swiss-hosted servers only, through their sister company in Geneva, Switzerland, allows Sekur to guarantee that their customers’ information is protected from data mining, monitoring, and hacking. Sekur is currently the only commercially available service that does not use big tech hosting, has its own infrastructure and technology, and uses Swiss privacy. Their newest service, SekurVPN, is also the only Swiss-hosted, commercially available privacy VPN, meaning that Sekur guarantees that internet traffic is not mined either.
The cornerstones of Sekur are their SekurMail and SekurMessenger features which include working to keep all communication data safe from mining and cyberattacks. SekurMail also features the SekurSend/SekurReply function, which is critical for business users. When using Sekur Messenger, you can use “chat-by-invite,” which allows non-Sekur users to chat with Sekur users without requiring them to subscribe or download the app.
Sekur is already establishing a solid brand name in the United States, and the company is expanding its offering quickly. They will launch their Sekur Enterprise Solutions, in October 2023, which will help the company reach more customers in the US, the UK, Australia, Germany, and Switzerland. Sekur is already increasing its Latin American footprint after recently signing a global contract with telecom giant América Móvil.
Launching a start-up is not easy, as Sekur’s founder and CEO, Alain Ghiai, knows well. Ghiai is also the founder of GlobeX Data S.A., which launched in 2007. The Sekur team initially took on the role of educators as well as advocates for cybersecurity. While today there is a clear demand for Sekur’s services, and the public is much more aware of the dangers of not protecting their data, it was difficult to show customers why they needed Sekur in the beginning. However, this was an obstacle Ghiai and the Sekur team were willing to face because of their passion for cybersecurity. Today, their challenges are geared toward new product development.
In addition to SekurVPN just launched this year, the company has several new services launching within the next year. In October, Sekur Enterprise Solutions will launch a unique service for enterprises and governments. SekurVoice will be available for encrypting voice calls by February 2024 and SekurPRO the combination of SekurMail, SekurMessenger, SekurVoice and a full video conferencing will launch by March 2024. This service is geared for C level executives, governments, HNWIs and other high profile clients looking for the ultimate privacy solutions to run their communications. SekurIdentity is set to launch in 2024, which will expand the platform’s privacy communications platform. Even a Sekur-branded browser is not out of the question as a future project.
Sekur is always thinking about how best to provide privacy and security for its users, whether through new products or simple practices like not asking for customers’ phone numbers when they sign up for the service. This kind of innovative thinking has led to the company being named one of the top five companies to watch by The Silicon Review. With so many new projects on the horizon, Sekur is at the forefront of privacy technology, ensuring its users are too.
