Restaurant eliminates tips, gives employees $35K per year

On top of that, full-time employees will also receive 500 shares in Bar Marco, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The employees will be asked to work a maximum of 40-44 hours per week, and they will have one night and two days off a week. Robert Fry, co-owner of Bar Marco, said that the country needs to realize that working in the industry is an occupation. Fry and his long-term employees worked together to create the plan.

According to Business Insider, Csilla Marie, an employee at the restaurant, said that this was touching and incredible, and she was proud to be part of a phenomenal and supportive company.

The changeover will happen by April of this year. As for the handful of employees that work part-time, they will work as servers’ assistants and will be given $10-$12 per hour.

The restaurant will not be raising their prices, nor will they be adding a service fee. The co-owners plan on expanding their menu, as well as increase the number of covers they do in the wine room, and increase the number of events that the restaurant host.

After making the announcement, Fry told media the restaurant has received inquiries from more than 120 people seeking employment.
