Philippe Starck And Fossil Partner To Develop Watch Collection

NEW YORK – Fossil and internationally renowned designer Philippe Starck announced a strategic licensing agreement under which Fossil and Philippe Starck will develop a signature line of watches.

The collection was recently previewed at the International Watch Fair in Basel, Switzerland. Deliveries to department and specialty stores in the U.S. as well as select watch and jewelry retailers are scheduled for third quarter 2001, with a global rollout planned to follow immediately.

Philippe Starck is an extraordinary mix of pop star, mad inventor, romantic philosopher and perhaps one of the most famous designers in the world.

His work can be seen across the globe, from chic hotels in New York, to the private apartment of the French president to chairs and lamps in cafes and homes all over the world. Now in the prime of his working life, Starck is leading the way reconciling objects with people.

The “Philippe STARCK with Fossil” line will launch with a 12-piece collection consisting of six stainless steel bracelets and six watches with rubber straps. Prices will begin at $95. Plans for additional styles to follow in the fourth quarter of 2001. Each style will be personally designed and overseen by Philippe Starck, and developed by Fossil.

“It is an honor for us to partner with Philippe Starck on this project,” said Kosta Kartsotis, President and CEO at Fossil. “His unique vision, style and wit are enlightening and inspirational.”
