Op-Ed: Economics and inflation — When does stupidity become insanity and vice versa?

This is how this mess works. The insane managing the incompetent.

The world’s inflation woes aren’t exactly secret, All essentials, from food to housing to education, are under stress, Add a lunatic war and rampaging energy costs. Now add the fraudulent political babble. Result, a global cluster of monumental proportions.

Now add fact-free right-wing media, some of which is owned by oil producers who’ve just cut oil production to keep energy prices up. Just for fun, add a rabid deregulated environment in which absolutely nothing is secure or safe and any level of financial security is largely impossible for most people.

None of these issues are subject to any commentary from the right. Like crime, it’s a non-topic. Greed and fraud are normal, according to someone. People who don’t pay taxes should get tax cuts on a multi-decade basis. Destroying the revenue base by privatization is also standard practice. Breaking environmental laws and poisoning millions of people with toxic pollution is now just accountancy.

The message? The same ridiculous message, always. Little Donny Trump aged nearly two and a quarter will ride in on his popsicle stick horse and save the day. The UK Tories will save the UK by continually destroying it as an economic entity. FOX News and QAnon will get married and have little networks together.

(That’s just in the West. The rest of the world has similar issues. Elsewhere, the regression has been underway for quite a while. China’s options include more draconian drivel, maybe a war, and destroying the remnants of the happy times after the big economic miracle. Who knows where India will continue not to go? Brazil continues its vandalism at the expense of the world. …And so on.)

From a purely journalistic viewpoint, the main issue is the monotony of endless bad calls by rich mediocrities. Whatever the issue, it will be misrepresented and the response will be 100% wrong, Idiots and sycophantic fanatics will be promoted to ensure nothing is done properly or efficiently, even the endless mistakes.

Even the McCarthyist reds under beds terminology was accepted. Everyone’s a socialist except Donny and our tax havens. Meanwhile, the world goes broke. Homelessness is at plague levels. America is one big, expensive pharmacy. The world’s richest countries are under severe constant psychological and financial stress, for no real reason.

Wealth continues to devalue itself. Your money is worth progressively less as prices rise. Calling it “growth” or anything but destructive is beyond absurd. It’s nuts. It’s unaffordable now, let alone in future.

So here’s the theory:

  • Insanity grows itself. The lunatic decision of yesterday is the basis of today’s latest idiocy.
  • Ideology might as well be a commodity. It’s manipulated, expensive, and largely based on margins.
  • Stupidity also grows itself. Having accepted it, you can only do something stupider, based on previous stupidity.
  • Insanity and stupidity can’t self-correct. They literally follow themselves around, decision by decision.
  • At some point, they become interchangeable. The stupid accept the insane, the insane accept the stupid.
  • Neither can see anything wrong with anything. They essentially commit themselves to any wrong move or bad call by definition.
  • The uneducated and those who can’t do critical thinking have no choices in any of this. Call that a “grassroots movement”? A lot of people have. It’s just more fraud, with publicists.

This is how this mess works. The insane managing the incompetent.

Now ask yourself – What if there was any sanity in basic economics, politics, and fiscal management? What if paying so very much more for exactly the same things wasn’t such a good idea? What if blatant criminal fraud wasn’t a form of heroism?

Absolutely none of this was unpredictable, or unpredicted. Every single economic disaster was seen and called, and the warnings were ignored. The world’s “media” (odd name for skanks and spineless publishers) played along.

The problems are all fixable, from environmental meltdown to fiscal madness. They have to be fixed, and the constant delays are expensive. All that’s actually needed is someone doing something right for a change. Worth a shot?
