Maryland is becoming one of the most Internet and e-commerce-friendly
states in America according to Emily Hackett, State Policy Director for
the Internet Alliance (IA). Hackett commented on Tuesday, April 25th as
Maryland Governor Parris Glendening signed into law the package of
technology bills sponsored by the Administration and legislative
leaders.
The IA is the leading consumer Internet industry association at the
American state, federal and international levels. The IA’s mission is to
build the consumer confidence and trust necessary for the Internet to
become the leading global marketing medium of this century. Leading
members of the Internet Alliance include, AOL, Citibank, Consumers
Union, Cox Interactive, Deutsche Telekom, DLJDirect, IBM, MCI
WorldCom/UUNET, Microsoft and Prodigy. The IA was recently acquired by
The Direct Marketing
Association (DMA), gaining the additional strength of more than 4500
member businesses in interactive and other marketing.
