i4i Surges Into Emerging Technology Frontier

TORONTO – i4i (Infrastructures for Information Inc.), a leading Canadian supplier of XML collaborative content software, today announced that it has opened an office in the emerging technology frontier of San Diego, California.

The new office (the company’s first in the United States) will be managed by John F. Winter, who was recently appointed Regional Sales Manager by i4i. Mr. Winter was formerly the Director of Strategic Alliances for the U.S. government and government integrators for Seattle-based DataChannel Inc., a company which develops industry and government XML solutions. Prior to that he was President of Network Applied Sciences, a technology company in San Diego.

“John F. Winter is well known in the technology community, especially in
California and on the west coast, and was a logical choice for this position,”
says Rick Makos, CEO and President of i4i.

i4i provides content creation and collaboration technology solutions for
the integrated enterprise community – users, business partners, customers and
suppliers – and it does so transparently through a combination of Microsoft
Word, existing e-mail systems and the Web. Powered by XML, i4i leverages a
customer’s current infrastructure and user tools to handle complex, business-
critical documents.

S4 DataPipe products permit information sharing among different computer applications by accessing and manipulating document content using the XML and SGML languages. One such DataPipe is S4/TEXT, which allows enterprise users to collaborate in the development of XML content,
while creating and e-mailing Microsoft Word documents.

Organizations already using i4i’s patented technologies include Alcatel
Networks Corporation, Academic Press, Compaq, the Royal Air Force, the United
States Patent and Trademark Office, the Getty Trust, Raytheon Technical
Services and Wolters Kluwer.

i4i has its headquarters in Toronto, Canada, and a European office in
Paris, France. The company has established partnerships in such countries as
France, Germany, Sweden and the United States.
