While practicing law is oftentimes stereotyped as being a stuffy profession, innovators in the industry are finding new ways to make the age-old trade exciting for the 21st century. Leading this charge into the future is Charles Lew, the Los Angeles based celebrity attorney who’s rewriting the conventional archetypes of law practice.

Raised and educated in Scotland, Charles crossed the Atlantic to Florida where he finished college. His mother, Ness Morrison, whose honor is embodied by Lew’s widely adored “Morrison Pub” in Los Feliz, told him to pursue anything he so desired, as long as he was a good person. Despite the reputation of popular law practices of the times, Lew resolved to move to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Law School, and become ‘one of the good guys’. Now a Director at Loyola, Lew has plans to reshape the future of budding attorneys with powerful resources and mental health awareness.

Rather than being trapped at a desk all day reviewing paperwork and contracts, Lew has taken the road-less-traveled, choosing to inject his day-to-day work with a little more intrigue than your run-of-the-mill attorney with his hands-on methodology.

Through his entrepreneurial approach to hospitality ventures, Lew is singularly positioned as one of the top high-profile attorneys in the United States. Pull a thread through his stops on a map of Southern California, and you’ll find the spirograph that is Charles’ daily meeting lineup with a myriad of notables from politicians to celebrities. Keenly fitted with an eye for high-quality burgeoning businesses, Lew has used his platform as an entrepreneurial L.A. lawyer to exponentially grow a multitude of ventures, situating his eponymous practice The Lew Firm as a preeminent backer of the hottest ventures looking to expand their sphere of influence.

“We’re excited to accumulate and coalesce what we believe are truly best-in-class concepts, and we believe that our involvement with these brands is not only going to continue to help them grow but help them realize a whole new possibility of global expansion,” said Lew.

This ethos extends throughout The Lew Firm’s own personally-founded ventures and partnerships with established restaurateurs alike, showcasing Lew and team’s dynamic adaptability. Originally founded in 2009, Lew’s Stout Burgers and Beer has grown to seven locations and counting across the California coastal region. One of his favorite ventures under his care is the global expansion of UK’s famous Bike Shed Moto, looking to open its doors in DTLA this Spring.

With a prescient understanding of city, county, and state regulatory matters, Lew was a beacon of hope during the confusion of Covid-19’s floodgate of mandates. While SoCal restaurateurs clawed to keep their doors open, Lew saved Santa Monica hotspot Fia from possible closure. This partnership subsequently resulted in expansion to a sister restaurant, Fia Steak, and Fia’s eventual earning of a coveted Michelin Plate Award (the precursor to sought-after stars) at the close of 2021.

As one of few lawyers with a natural discernment for trailblazing culinary concepts, Lew’s comprehensive approach and commitment to quality has allowed his establishments and partnerships to consistently reach new levels of potential, with Lew’s hand in SoCal’s trendiest eateries like ElephantéKing and Queen, and Kaviar Sushi, effectively demonstrating his prowess for the hospitality business. With plans on continuing his ambitious expansion plans in the future, Lew’s one-of-a-kind methodology as both a lawyer and entrepreneur aficionado is setting new standards of success other establishments must now seek to replicate.
