Google reportedly working on affiliate program

According to a report from 9to5Google, the company is working on creating an affiliate program for content creators not unlike the one Apple uses for its own digital apps and music.
In fact, according to the report, the company working with Google on such an initiative, Performance Horizon Group, is the same group that helped Apple launch its affiliate program about two years ago.
Initially, the affiliate venture would apply only to Google Play movies and music, but would ultimately expand to all products for sale in the Google Play store.
Nothing is for sure yet, as the program is said to still be in its earliest phases of development.
Google Play currently trails the Apple app store in revenue by nearly 70 per cent.
The timing for even such a rumor is interesting given that this week Google announced formation of a parent company, Alphabet Inc., to oversee all of Google’s assorted ventures, including the basics like its popular search engine and its initiative to have cars drive themselves.
