From music production to AAA development: Theodor Tang-Peronard’s path into gaming

When you hear about a Billboard-charting music producer who also works as a video game executive, you might double-check your sources. But Theodor Tang-Peronard is exactly that. As a former music producer signed to Universal Music with gold-certified credits and a former international business strategy consultant, he has built a career that now converges in his role as Creative Director and Head of Operations at Delphi Interactive. Today, he draws on both creative and operational experience to support the company’s approach to publishing and development.

Theodor’s background spans multiple countries. Born in Denmark, he spent parts of his childhood abroad, which he says encouraged early adaptability and an interest in global culture. After returning to Copenhagen for college, he studied International Business and later worked in strategy consulting. While building his business skill set, he continued producing music, collaborating with Grammy-winning artists, and landing placements on the Billboard charts. Balancing studio work with corporate responsibilities, he learned to manage creative deadlines alongside strategic priorities.

Video games eventually became a natural intersection of these interests. “Games are unique because you don’t just consume them, you participate in them,” he explains. “They combine narrative, technology, design, and art.” With a lifelong interest in gaming, he saw an opportunity to work on large-scale entertainment projects and applied his cross-disciplinary background to the process.

For the past two years, Theodor has supported Delphi Interactive’s creative direction and operational structure. “In my role, I help shape the storytelling of our titles while maintaining internal alignment and efficiency,” he says. The dual focus requires switching between narrative discussions with designers and logistical coordination with production partners.

Delphi Interactive, based in Los Angeles, operates with a small core team and collaborates with independent development studios on licensed IP. Rather than functioning like a traditional publisher, the company focuses on helping studios build games tied to recognizable entertainment franchises while maintaining lean operations. Theodor argues that players respond to thoughtful design and engaging storytelling more than they do to the size of a publisher.

One example is Delphi’s work on Project 007, now officially titled 007: First Light. Developed by IO Interactive in association with Delphi, the project introduces an original origin story for a young James Bond—the first Bond game in more than a decade. As a longtime fan of the series, Theodor finds the project personally meaningful. “Working with a franchise with such a long history is both exciting and challenging,” he says.

Beyond Bond, Delphi is developing additional titles based on well-known intellectual properties from film, literature, and pop culture. Theodor’s responsibility is to help maintain consistency across these projects. He believes that clear, creative goals and reliable operational processes are essential for working with external partners and franchise owners.

Building a company around licensed IP has presented challenges. Convincing rights holders to collaborate with a lean publishing team required demonstrating credibility. Managing external partnerships across multiple studios also demands careful communication. “Ensuring alignment across stakeholders is a continuous process,” he notes.

Drawing on his consulting experience, Theodor emphasizes structured communication, while his creative background helps him articulate project direction to writers, designers, and artists. “It’s important that large concepts translate into day-to-day execution,” he says.

Over time, he has distilled several leadership principles, including prioritizing focus, where projects benefit when scope is clearly defined and feature creep is limited.  Player experience first, when technical achievement matters, but enjoyment remains the primary goal. Lastly, straightforward Communication. Theodor favors direct guidance over complex strategies or shifting priorities.

Looking ahead, Delphi plans to expand its publishing slate while refining internal capabilities. Theodor aims to continue balancing operational efficiency with engaging creative content. “Maintaining clarity across teams helps us support strong outcomes,” he explains.

As the gaming industry continues to grow in size and cultural influence, executives with both creative and operational literacy are positioned to work across multiple disciplines. Theodor represents this shift, speaking as comfortably about narrative pacing as he does about production roadmaps. For Delphi Interactive, that combination may help the company continue navigating large franchises and collaborative partnerships.
