As more Canadian startups evolve into scaling businesses, a new set of challenges emerges — ones tied to people, capital, systems, and sustainability.

The ScaleUP Awards were created to honour companies navigating this shift. These are not startups chasing early traction. They are growth-stage companies building real momentum across regions, sectors, and stages of maturity.

Organized as part of ScaleUP Week, the awards spotlight ventures from across Western Canada. This year’s finalists are based in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, and include technology platforms, construction and engineering firms, health innovators, and industrial players. New categories introduced in 2025 — including Emerging, BIPOC, Women-Led, and Rising Star — reflect the diversity of leadership emerging across the Western Canadian economy.

“We received applications from across Western Canada, and what stood out this year was the range of companies pushing through the complexity of scale. Not just growing fast, but building intentionally,” says Simon Raby, professor at Mount Royal University and founder of ScaleUP Week. “This group reflects what scale looks like in Canada: diverse, capital-efficient, and deeply connected to the challenges their industries face.”

Winners will be announced during the ScaleUP Awards Gala on June 5 in Calgary.
