SEATTLE – At a time when many online vendors are pulling back, Costco Wholesale Corp. has introduced a Web site for business customers.
The warehouse chain already generates more than half of its sales from business shoppers at its 330 physical locations nationwide, but had not been targeting this group with its online site.
Costco has been selling books, videos, gift items, jewelry, sporting goods and other consumer merchandise online for several years. The new business-oriented site offers a broad range of merchandise for corporate use, ranging from networked computers, filing cabinets, copiers and audiovisual equipment to corporate gifts, breakroom supplies and snacks.
Customers in Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco areas will receive next-day delivery by Costco trucks of orders over $250, while those in other parts of the country will get their orders via common carrier.
