Collaboration brings national media coverage to CIO Peer Forum, Canada’s premier event for CIOs and technology executives

The CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN) has announced a media partnership with Digital Journal for CIO Peer Forum 2025, its flagship national event taking place May 28–29, 2025 in Ottawa.

As official media partner, Digital Journal will provide on-the-ground coverage and national storytelling to elevate the conversations happening at the Peer Forum. The event brings together a cross-section of Canada’s senior technology leaders from both public and private sectors for two days of expert insight, strategic discussion, and peer learning.

The role of the CIO has moved far beyond managing infrastructure.

In 2025, CIOs are expected to lead AI strategy, reinforce cybersecurity defences, modernize legacy systems, and drive business-wide change. Peer Forum is one of the few events in the country where those challenges are unpacked not just as technical problems, but as leadership questions.

Chris Hogg, CEO of Digital Journal, says the partnership is a natural fit.

“CIOs today are at the center of everything. They are responsible for security, AI adoption, modernization, operational excellence, and talent,” says Hogg. “This event captures that shift at a time when Canadian technology leaders are moving from pilots to scaled delivery, confronting AI regulation, and helping entire organizations adapt to new ways of working. Digital Journal is proud to help amplify these voices and make their insights part of the national conversation.”

Lorraine Bauer, Executive Director of the CIO Association of Canada, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration.

“Working with Digital Journal has been an important step in helping us tell the story of innovation through the lens of CIO’s and technology leadership,” says Bauer. “As our national media partner, they’ve helped bring attention to the challenges and progress CIOs are navigating across Canada. That visibility is essential as we continue to elevate the role of technology in shaping our economic and social future.”

Produced by the CIO Association of Canada, the Peer Forum agenda spans national policy, enterprise strategy, and practical tools for transformation. Sessions will focus on building trust in AI and data governance, rethinking the CIO-CISO relationship, leading through disruption, and developing talent for an era of constant change.

The conference theme, The Rise of the Makers: Orchestrating Value at Scale, reflects the shifting role of CIOs in today’s tech-driven world. As technology becomes more accessible and AI tools mature, CIOs are evolving from solution providers to orchestrators of innovation.

Keynote speakers include Amber Mac, technology and innovation speaker, and Jay Kiew, innovation and change navigation strategist. The agenda also features expert-led workshops and peer discussions on topics such as IT operating models, generative AI, cybersecurity, and digital experience design.

For Digital Journal, the partnership builds on its ongoing collaboration with the CIO Association of Canada as national media partner. It also aligns with the publication’s editorial mission to elevate stories of innovation and leadership from across the country.

Sponsors include Calian, ManageEngine, Oproma, Converge Technology Solutions, Data Elephant, QRX Technology Group, RSM, Lenovo, Spice Technology Group, Thrive, Affinity, Infolaser, HP, and Orangutech. Their support enables the conversations, insights, and connections that make the Peer Forum a national platform for technology leadership.

Tickets for CIO Peer Forum 2025 are available at ciocan.ca/cio-peer-forum. The event is open to CIOs, CISOs, CTOs, and senior leaders in technology, operations, and innovation.
