Apparently, Amazon has already signed some paperwork and plans on opening up a physical retail location in Sunnyvale, California. Not only that, but the plans have already been approved, which will allow Amazon to build out an 11,600-square-foot warehouse. It will feature eight car stalls for pickups.
A third party developer that submitted the planning documents described the project as a blended customer shopping experience. The developer said that it leverages a brick-and-mortar retail experience and an online shopping platform.
Amazon isn’t named in the planning documents, but sources do say that the likely tenant is Amazon. A person familiar with the plans said they were told that Amazon concept could eventually encompass multiple sites in Silicon Valley.
According to the planning application, customers will pre-order their groceries, as well as any other items they want to buy, and then a specific 15-minute to two-hour pickup window will need to be chosen.
Right now, there is no word on when the grocery store will be open for business
