Amazon’s bookstore is stocked with thousands of books, sold at the same price as on Amazon. The bookstore will be unveiled on Tuesday, and the name of the store is Amazon Books.
The selection of books will be based on reviews, as well as sales data from Amazon’s website. Amazon has moved into physical retailing by launching pick-up points where customers can go and get their orders, and Amazon has launched kiosks where gadgets such as the Kindle are sold.
However, this is the first time Amazon has launched a full-size brick-and-mortar shop.
The books will feature a customer rating and a review, which is what consumers can find on Amazon’s website when they browse books.
Jennifer Cast, the vice president of Amazon Books, said the company has applied 20 years of online bookselling experience to build a store that incorporates the benefits of both online and offline book shopping.
The bookstore has 5,500-sq-ft, and customers will not only be able to buy books, they will have the chance to try out devices such as the Kindle and Amazon’s Fire TV.
As of now, it is unclear if Amazon has plans to open more locations across the country.
