Alberta Innovates and Digital Journal are excited to announce a strategic partnership aimed at showcasing the dynamic growth and innovation within Alberta’s tech ecosystem.

This collaboration kicks off today and will be integrated into Inventures, taking place May 21-23, 2025 at the BMO Centre in Calgary. The partnership will continue after the event and throughout the year to highlight transformative stories from across Alberta.

As an official media partner for Inventures, Digital Journal will provide comprehensive on-site coverage, including live interviews from the Digital Journal broadcast studio, strategically located at the heart of the conference. Over the course of the three-day event, the studio will feature in-depth conversations with leaders from startups, scale-ups, established enterprises, research institutions, investment firms, and government agencies.

“We’re excited to be working with Alberta Innovates and Inventures,” says Chris Hogg, CEO of Digital Journal. “Inventures has become one of the most important tech events in Western Canada, and we share Alberta Innovates’ goal of elevating the voices driving innovation. Their work is essential to building the ecosystem, and we’re proud to help tell those stories.”

Nicole Shokoples, Vice President of Stakeholder Relations and Communications at Alberta Innovates, echoes this enthusiasm.

“We’re excited to partner with Digital Journal, which has grown rapidly in Western Canada as a leading voice in innovation,” says Shokoples. “Its focus on amplifying innovation stories fits naturally with our mission to support Alberta’s innovation ecosystem. Together, we can make sure the work being done here reaches the audiences it deserves, both across Canada and abroad.

Later this month, Digital Journal will release a pitch form for companies interested in being featured in the Digital Journal broadcast studio.

Organizations ranging from early-stage startups to large-scale enterprises are encouraged to apply. Digital Journal will shortlist companies from a range of industries, focusing on the strength of their innovation story, the impact of the problems they are solving, and the originality of their approach.

The selection process will highlight a cross-section of Alberta’s innovation ecosystem and the people moving it forward.
