Airbus patents supersonic jet

The new Airbus was discovered in a patent application, which revealed that the jet would be able to reach four or five times the speed of sound.

The patent application says the jet will use a variety of engines, with each one serving various purposes. Various forms of hydrogen will be used to power the engines.

The patent was approved last month, but the jet may not be produced anytime soon.

Airbus says that the plane’s shape and vertical trajectory will reduce the sonic boom that is created when travelling at high speeds.

The plane would be capable of carrying up to 20 passengers or 2-3 tons of cargo for up to 5,500 miles. Also, experts say that the cost of the flights would be very high.

The patent states that the market envisaged is principally that of VIP passengers, as well as business travel passengers who would require transcontinental return journeys within a day.
